Streamline Legal Operations: Outsource Projects to Freelance Attorneys Nationwide
Background
LAWCLERK is an innovative online marketplace where attorneys can hire remote associates and freelance lawyers. I was tasked with creating their brand, establishing a design system, designing the UX/UI for their dashboards and websites, and designing digital and printed marketing collateral.
Challenge
At the time, there was no existing platform specifically designed for attorneys to hire remote associates or for legal workers to find freelance opportunities. Our challenge was to create an intuitive, seamless, and efficient marketplace accessible to attorneys nationwide. This platform needed to accommodate the many steps and legal permissions involved in the hiring process while ensuring ease of use and legal compliance.
Solution
Through extensive research and discovery, we gained a deep understanding of the typical processes involved in hiring legal associates. We designed a user-friendly dashboard where attorneys could easily set up projects, detailing descriptions, due dates, pricing, and legal categories. The platform ensured legal compliance for each project and included a rating system to maintain work quality, facilitating efficient hiring processes.
To tackle the complexity of legal onboarding, we made the user experience conversational and visually appealing, breaking down the process into digestible pieces. The UI was designed to feel interactive and gamified, rather than a standard, overwhelming form.
For the branding of LAWCLERK, we chose bright hues of blue and yellow to create an energized and warm feel, avoiding traditional browns and grays. Custom illustrated graphics were used to enhance approachability, moving away from dull stock images of legal documents or desk-bound professionals.
The app incorporated essential features such as communication tools, video chatting, document version tracking, change requests, and payment processing. This allowed remote associates to find work on a project-by-project basis, selecting tasks they were interested in.
To complement the branding, we created illustrated motion graphics to promote LAWCLERK. Instead of using traditional talking head videos, we used fun animations that aligned with the brand's vibrant and approachable identity.
Since we were still in the process of developing the product, we didn't have any content to feature in our marketing materials. To address this, we created custom graphics for all of LAWCLERK's promotional content.
Results
We successfully brought LAWCLERKfrom concept to market. The platform now boasts over 12,000 U.S.-based attorneys, with a 95% satisfaction rate. This innovative solution has transformed the way attorneys hire and manage remote associates, establishing LAWCLERK as a leader in the legal tech space.

Our approach to branding, UX/UI design, and market positioning enabled LAWCLERK to fill a unique niche in the legal industry. By focusing on user-friendly design and an engaging brand identity, we created a platform that not only meets the needs of its users but also stands out in a competitive market.
